Breaking News! The impressive Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been voted in as a finalist for the 2019 South African Car of the Year. The competition, which is now in its 33rd year, is one of the most prestigious awards in the country with even a listing as a finalist being regarded as a great honour. This year the field is dominated by SUV’s, and the Pajero Sport joins 11 other contenders in a competition that is judged by the SA Guild of Motoring Journalists’ (SAGMJ).

This latest version of the Mitsubishi Pajero was launched in South Africa in late 2017, and in just over a year has made an indelible mark on the SUV market in South Africa. It boasts Mitsubishi’s impressive Super Select II-4WD system and has four driving modes:

  • 2WD High Range
  • 4WD
  • 4WD High Range with locked centre differential
  • 4WD Low Range with locked centre differential

Safety features include 6-airbags, ISO-FIX child seat anchors, ASTC (Active Stability & Traction Control), Intelligent 8-Speed Automatic Transmission, Hill Descent Control, Off-road Mode Control, a Collapsible Steering Column, ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), BAS (Brake Assist System) and Side Impact Bars.

The winner of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists SA Car of the Year for 2019 will be announced at a banquet event early in April 2019.
