The new Mitsubishi ASX Sport not only looks the part but also packs a real punch. Based on the ASX GLX, the limited edition ASX Sport boasts R30 000 worth of additional equipment at the same price as the base model. It is available in grey and white with some of the orange and black from the Triton ‘Athlete’ special edition adding to the bold and sporty look.

Mitsubishi’s new ASX Sport is a crossover SUV and fits many moulds perfectly. It has the look of a stylish adventurer offering additional space, practicality, safety, and incredible versatility, accompanied by sporty looks and a host of features and technologies.

According to Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA), “Our target market includes customers who would like the benefits of a compact SUV which include spaciousness, safety and practicality, offers a higher ride height and is easy to drive, but comes with the fuel efficiency of a smaller car.”

Exterior, Interior and Free ASX Sport Package

As with the GLX, the ASX Sport comes standard with a long list of features as well as advanced passive and active safety technology. Some of the features include a daytime running lights, a full panoramic glass roof, keyless entry and start, HID headlights and a 7-airbag system. Don’t forget the leather seats which are heated in the front and electrically adjustable for the driver.

As Nic Campbell stated, “The practical and luxurious interior offers the same roominess as that of the standard model, but with all the additional features, of which the new infotainment system is the most valuable.”

Engine Specs and Safety

The Mitsubishi ASX Sport features a 5-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-litre MIVEC engine producing 110kW at 6000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. A 63-litre fuel tank and consumption of 7.5 litres/100 km gives it a range of around 800 km on the open road. In addition to the 4-cylinder Multi-point Fuel Injection engine, Mitsubishi’s Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system (MIVEC) provides optimal valve timing at low and high revs for a much more responsive driving experience.

With performance comes safety and some of the features include the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) Body Construction, seven airbags, side-impact protection bars, whiplash injury reduction seats, collapsible steering column and ISOFIX child seat anchors. It also has ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), BAS (Brake Assist System), Rear Park Distance Control and a Rear-view Camera that makes parking a breeze.
