Its official, a fourth-generation Mitsubishi Outlander is due for launch in 2021 which will be sold as a 2022 model. The Japanese automaker recently announced what they had in store for the upcoming 2021 model year and it makes for interesting reading. Each of the current models will receive some attention and that includes the new Mitsubishi Outlander.
According to Mitsubishi, “Between now and the end of the second quarter of 2021, Mitsubishi Motors North America will launch three considerably revised vehicles and one all-new, ground-up redesign, proof of the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, top-value, leading-edge technology vehicles in the US.”
New Mitsubishi Outlander Ups The Ante
With the ever-growing competitive SUV market, the new Mitsubishi Outlander will be an even better contender with updates and upgrades across the board. It will have the same architecture as the other revised car in the range, the Nissan Rogue. However, the fresh-faced Mitsubishi Outlander will feature the automaker’s “bold, aggressive, and distinctive appearance.”
They’ve now confirmed that the new model will be bigger with more technology features and a significantly refined interior. This could be a game-changer for Mitsubishi as it’s rated the quietest and best-equipped Mitsubishi ever sold in Canada and based on initial reports, it looks set to impress on a larger scale.
As mentioned earlier, it’s been confirmed that the new Mitsubishi Outlander will be based on the Nissan Rogue but other technical details are yet to be confirmed. They’ve also not released any imagery so we’ll have to wait in anticipation to see what this exciting SUV has to offer.
Considering the automaker’s recent comments, it will continue to be a spacious, comfortable and relatively economical car, ideal for urban driving and the open road. They will unveil the new Mitsubishi Outlander early in 2021 during a global event but whether it’s a physical or virtual launch will depend on the Covid-19 situation as it continues to disrupt nearly all sectors across the globe.
Besides the new redesigned Mitsubishi Outlander, the other cars on the list are only getting a few updates. That includes the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the Outlander Sport.
Reports suggest that the revised Eclipse Cross will also arrive in Q1 2021 as an early 2022 model. It will more than likely have new front and rear-end styling, a more refined interior and a new infotainment system. The Outlander Sport which the automaker updated last year will stay largely the same for 2021 although they have stated it will offer “considerable improvement to standard levels of equipment.”
Will The New Mitsubishi Outlander Come To South Africa?
Unfortunately, the new Mitsubishi Outlander will not be available in South Africa but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate and celebrate their continued efforts to improve the line-up.
As disappointing as it may be, the local range of Mitsubishi vehicles on offer is nothing to scoff at as you can see in our virtual showroom. Stay up to date on all local and international motoring news, simply follow our blog and join the conversation on Facebook.
